PKM and Self-Management
Literature (Dorsey, Avery et al, Frand & Hixon) suggests that self-management is an important component of Personal Knowledge Management. Akin to self-management is the concept of behavioral self-regulation: setting goals, monitoring performance, evaluating and refining approach. What is the role of self-regulation in PKM? What is the correlation between one's ability to self-regulate and successfully practice PKM? Can the strength of one's ability to self-regulate be, in any way, a predictor of PKM success? If so, can an assessment of self-regulation be useful in assessing PKM?
Note: These questions are currently under exploration as part of my (@kcbower's) thesis for a Master's in Learning & Organizational Change at Northwestern University, Evanston, IL. http://www.sesp.northwestern.edu/msloc/
