Developing a Community
Communities are strange entities. Sometimes they form by themselves and sometimes there is a need, but they do not form. Smart organizations are keeping their finger on the pulse of this need and applying smart resources when it is appropriate. This chat will cover some of the questions (and hopefully answers) that are important when thinking about how/when to develop and/or support a community.
- How do you know when a community is needed?
- What is the first thing to do to get your community started?
- What are some of the signs that the community is forming well?
- Are community online tools important? How about offline interactions?
- What type of steerage should the community have in the early stages?
Building Knowledge Management Expertise
In order to deal with knowledge management practices and strategies effectively, organizations and individuals should think about how to build such expertise. In what ways can you develop the right skill set, tools and attitude required for the task.
Stan Garfield (working at Deloitte, member of the KMers.org steering board and regular contributor to the chats) will lead a discussion about the way your organization handles this issue. We'll share lessons learned, insights found in literature, and best-practices.
We hope to see you there!
Knowledge for Innovation
Modern organizations need a new, collaborative, value-driven approach to Innovation, which is challenging traditional views. It appears that the “Knowledge Management side of Innovation” is not fully exploited. Closer synergy between Knowledge and Innovation practices would certainly benefit the innovation process.
Questions for this chat session:
- What could Open Innovation learn from KM?
- Which KM practices are applicable in an Open Innovation environment?
- What constraints are imposed by Open Innovation?
